wHAT IS SMART?

A Vision Shaped by Local People

SMART brings together a dedicated team committed to the project’s success. It is led by 12 individuals from diverse professional backgrounds, all volunteering their expertise free of charge.

Each member has a strong connection to the village—whether through long-term residence, second home ownership, or professional ties—and shares a deep commitment to the wellbeing of the community.

Securing the Future of St Mawes

Following a year of work, public consultations, and community input, this project has emerged as the most important step in reversing local decline.

With strong backing from the Parish Council, Cornwall Council, local representatives, and the school, the plan is to deliver:

Why does it matter?

The decline of our local community is due, in part, to the lack of housing available for local families. There are 40 families registered on Homechoice as in need of affordable housing in the Parish and only 16 affordable homes have been built in the past 16 years. Very few local families can find a home in the Parish.

Be Part of Something Lasting

With planning targeted for 2026 and total costs estimated at £3.5 million, funding will come from a combination of public support and community investment.

We are inviting those who care about St Mawes—residents, supporters, and those with long-standing connections—to help bring this vision to life.

Whether through investment, support, or advocacy, you can play a part in:

Together, We Can Make This Happen

This is more than a housing project—it’s a commitment to keeping our community alive for generations to come.

Join us. Support us. Invest in the future of St Mawes.
